Another great day today

So we started the day out for breakie with our friends. We got to the restaurant and were shocked to see half their neighbourhood sitting at the table! Okay, maybe half the neighbourhood is stretching it a bit, but there were 12 people sitting at the table already. The food was great, and for $2.75 for bacon & eggs with homefries and toast, you can't really go wrong! I also had a freshly squeezed orange juice for $1.49, which was great! It came in a parfait glass, and that impressed me! Yep, we'll be back to Ali Baba's Cave for breakie again!

We didn't end up going for a drive out to check for apple blossoms. I wanted to do some work around the yard, so we just came home. I fired up my chimenia and burnt some twigs and dried yard matter from over the winter. My mother in law and I had bought some new solar lights for our back garden, so we put those in. I love the ones we picked out. They're a brushed steel finish. Here's a couple of pictures of them...

I also took a picture of my very dirty white cat. She was nudging herself on the branches of my rose of sharon bush. Probably letting me know that I still needed to prune it! I'll get around to it this week sometime, because our weather is supposed to be gorgeous all week. It's almost time for her shave down for the summer. I'll buzz her fur off her and then give her a nice bath. She loves her less furry body for the summers, and it's much easier to keep her clean, since she likes to hang out in dirty places, like in my chimenia for one to get herself all covered with soot and ashes! Crazy cat!

So that was my day today. I love this time of year! :-)

Peaches, peaches, everywhere!

Gonna move out to the country... gonna eat a lot of peaches...

As I had mentioned earlier, I took my mother in law for a drive out to the country to see the blossoms. Wow! I guess I kind of forgot how many peach farms there were in that area! As we drove down the country roads, it was like we were enclosed in a sea of pink all around us! The peach trees are in full blossom right now, and they're so pretty. We took some pictures, but it was a wee tad windy so it was hard to get really good close ups, because by the time you'd focus on a blossom, the wind would blow the branch right out of focus. However, I am happy with what I got anyway. This is the first year I've been able to go take any pictures of them since I got my digital about five years ago. Every year I've either missed them, or the weather hasn't co-operated with my days off during blossom time.

So here's a look at what I saw today...

A view down the path between the rows. I love the bright dandelions growing between the rows!

Here's a bit of a close up, but as I said, I would get it all focused, then the wind would gust a bit and through it out of focus, or my mother in law would decide to move in on a blossom within my picture frame!

Then we stopped at a cherry farm, and I tried several shots to get some close ups of the cherry blossoms, but it was too windy by then, and I just couldn't manage to get a well focused picture. This was about the best I have. But with cherries being my all time favorite fruit of summer, I hope that judging by the bazillions of blossoms on the trees that this year will be another bumper crop like we had around here last year!

Tomorrow my hubby and I are meeting some friends for breakfast, and then heading out for a little drive in his new to him vehicle. (He just put a Suzukki Sidekick on the road) Hopefully we'll end up near some apple orchards so I get some pictures of those blossoms too! I love this time of year.

I've been ranked!!

W00T! W00T! I've finally got a Page Rank!!! This is just so frigging exciting for me! Mr. Google gave my blog a 2/10 page rank! I know it's small potatoes compared to many other pages out there, but after having a zero rank for so long, it's a pretty damn welcoming rank for me! I'm hoping it will help me get a few more blog writing gigs with PayPerPost. Money has been really tight lately and I could use a few extra blogging bucks!

Anyway, I'm out of here for the afternoon. It's a gorgeous day and I'm going out to the farms to take some pictures of the blossoms on the trees. I've got all my bedding hanging outside in the sun and breeze that's perfect for airing out duvets and pillows. All around, it's a great day so far! :-)

Blowin' in the wind...

Yesterday it rained all day, but when I let the dog out last night before I went to bed, I was so happy to see the moon shining in all it's glory, and a star-filled night, well, as much star-filled as it can be with all the light pollution from the city lights. I woke up early this morning and started the laundry so I could start hanging outside in the sunshine. I love hanging my laundry much better than putting it in the dryer. After I had coffee with my mother-in-law, as I do every weekend morning (she lives right next door), we went out to our open back yard and started cleaning out and digging up our flower beds. We cut one of my huge hostas in half and planted part of it in another area of the yard. I love hostas, especially this one variety I have. I don't know what it's called, but I got two plants from a friend of mine that passed away a couple years ago. She had brought them to me from her mom's garden, who has also passed on. Anyway, I want to keep this variety going, and divide them when I can to make more plants. They have a nice large leaf and are solid green. I'll take some pictures of them when they grow this year and post them here. Maybe one of you green thumbers can tell me what the variety is.

Anyway, I had my camera out in the yard today too. Here's a picture I took of some scatter rugs I washed and had hanging to dry. I love t
he colors, and I love strange pictures! ;-)

TGIF and I mean it!

Today just seemed to drag on and on and on at work. I didn't think we'd ever hit 5 o-clock to close those damn doors! We were really busy and it was so sad when people kept coming in and saying how gorgeous it was outside and too bad we were stuck in there. Got that right people, so why don't you rub it in a little more! Well we finally managed to break free from what seemed like jail and head out into the glorious sunny day to start our weekend. A friend of mine has invited my husband and myself over for a BBQ tomorrow... the first BBQ gathering of the year! That's always the best one too! We're looking forward to feasting on some tasty steaks, baked taters and some salad. And of course enjoying a few cold ones outside in the sunshine! Hooray for Spring!

Could it be?

Could it be that spring is finally reached our part of the world? After weeks of miserable cold cloudy and wet days, today was simply gorgeous with the sun and warmth! People were donning t-shirts and shorts, and there were so many people out taking in the nice weather with a walk! Ah, I love this time of year with this kind of weather! I hope the weatherman doesn't change his mind on the long range forecast either. We're supposed to be sunny and clear for the next week, with temperatures reaching 20° Celsius this weekend. I'm hoping to get outside and clean up my flower beds so I can plant the following weekend. I can't wait! I think I'm going to have my morning coffee outside on the patio this weekend too. Just me, the sunshine and the birds... what a plan!

It's a beautiful day!

It was gorgeous here today! We were up in the double digits and for Celsius temperatures, that was a warm welcoming. We had so much snow, and it's almost all gone. Now there's a lot of mucky looking grass, but I'll take it! I noticed my spring bulbs have poked their way through the ground and are about two inches high. I can't wait until the bloom and we see a little color! Soon, very soon!
