Peanut Butter Scare

Remember that recall last month for peanut butter made under the labels of Peter Pan and the Wal-Mart brand named Great Value? The recall was announced after a 12 year old boy had contracted salmonella poisoning after eating some Peter Pan peanut butter. ConAgra Foods, who manufactures the peanut butter that sells under these brands had announced the recall for all jars that had the product code on the lids that started with the numbers 2111.

Well, there have been literally thousands of people that have contacted their lawyers about the Peanut Butter Recall Lawsuit. This tainted batch of peanut butter was manufactured between May 2006 and February 2007. Almost an entire year! And it appears that this peanut butter was shipped country wide, as there are reports connecting almost 300 cases of food related illness in 39 different states. The common denominator of these cases is consumption of certain types of Peter Pan peanut butter. It's rather scary, when you think of how many children love peanut butter sandwiches.
