Still renting?

Paying rent these days just seems so criminal to me. Landlords are charging an arm and a leg for a decent place to live, and what do get out of it other than a roof over your head? Nothing, nada, zippo, zilch. Unless of course you consider paying your landlords mortgage and then some rewarding in some sort of wacky way. Around these parts, a decent two bedroom apartment is going to cost you about $800.00 or more a month, plus hydro, and many apartments here are electrically heated, so all they're tossing in for you is usually water, which isn't ordinarily a large cost.

In my mind, you're better off paying a mortgage instead of rent. Why not have that monthly payment as an investment in real estate, as well as a roof over your head? I know there are many people out there that just think they can't afford to buy a house here in Canada. That they wouldn't be approved for a mortgage for any number of reasons, such as they are self-employed or they have bad credit, but this isn't always the case. There are Canadian Mortgage Brokers out there that will likely approve a mortgage for you. And as for affording to buy a house, you needn't worry about not having a down payment, as it is possible to purchase a home with no down payment. Even in a city like Toronto, Buying A House With $0 Down is something that can be done, and a mortgage payment on a modest starter home is likely to be less per month than an apartment rental will cost you.

So if you're still paying your landlords mortgage and think owning your own home is just a dream, you really should look into a No Down Payment Mortgage, and start investing in yourself instead.
