Getting bit by Crocs?

I have a pair, and they are the most comfortable shoes I own. Yes, I know they are a strange looking shoe. Kinda clunky looking and the crazy colors. Mine are pink, and while I would have preferred a more toned down color, when I bought mine I was out of town shopping at a large mall, and my feet were killing me, so color wasn't important at that point.

But my mother in law, who also has a pair of Crocs was telling me about these injuries, particular on escalators that are being blamed on these chunky colorful shoes. I think this is a bunch of hogwash, and after reading this article at CNN about it. I can't see how these shoes could be responsible for injuries like they claim. I can see an injury like this happening with an open-toed sandal, but not a Croc, that is more like a clog. That's my two cents on it.

I agree, it's hard to imagine, but it happened to me way back in February 2004. I don't know how it happened; I think the Croc melted but I'm not sure. I avoided injury by pulling my foot all the way out of both shoe and sock, but had a helluva scare. The story was blogged here.

Wow! That is one serious crocbite you got there! After reading your story I thought more and more about this, and I'm wondering if what's happening is if the holes in the front of the Croc are getting stuck on the teeth that protrude from from the escalator step in front of the one that's being stood upon. I don't know. You say you think it melted, but I'd have to wonder from what it melted? I think now I'm just confused about the whole issue. But I do hope your toes managed to escape any injury in your incident.
