A crappy ending to a good week

I was so pissed at work today. One of our tellers is off on a mini vacation to Vegas this weekend, so she wasn't there yesterday or today. Our replacement was this annoying woman, to put it nicely, that takes forever with the clients, and is nothing more than a back-stabbing phony brown-noser! I can't stand this woman. She gets coddled at all the branches she works at because she sucks so much management ass! The last time she was at our branch, I had some words with her, so she had refused to come back and work for us again. Good! I would rather work alone than work with her! Well our manager must have done some smoothing of her feathers and managed to have her fill in these two shifts this week. Yippee...

So today, while the other teller was on her lunch break, and this one is taking forever with this one client trying to suck them in for every financial product that we offer, I get a client that had some serious problems with her bank books. Someone at one point, back in June for pete sakes had messed up her books when they went to update them, and got them switched around. This poor old woman was so confused when she came in today, and of course doesn't speak very good English or understand a lot either. We have a lot of older foreign clients at our branch, due to being very closely located for both the Italian and Polish communities. Anyway, the line up started getting very long, and at this point our other staff, manager included are supposed to come out and help out with the line up, helping people that maybe just need a book updated, or are making a deposit, paying a bill from their account -- basically anything that doesn't require them to need cash to give to these clients. Well nobody came to help out.

After about 10 - 15 minutes or so, I finally get this poor old lady's books straightened out so she understands what's happening, and little miss phony is still trying to sell the same damned client she's been serving another visa card! So I get to start trying to run this line up through my wicket, and didn't every damned one of them freak out on me for having to wait so long! Of course they did, and so they should be mad. I'd be pissed off too if I had to wait like they did! The worst though was this one guy that has a business account with us, and has banked with us for close to 30 years, and all that time he never ever complains about having to wait. We're a pretty busy branch for the most part, so waiting is nothing new, but waiting 17 minutes to do a 20 second transaction that he did is a bit much. I felt so sorry for these people, and tried my best to apologize for the lack of service they received. Worst of it was, do you think one single person complained to the phony bitch working next to me? Nada one! Let me tell you, I was never so happy to see today end! I need a drink!

I won a prize!

This morning at work during our morning meeting, our manager announced some winners from a contest we had going this past summer. I had actually forgot about this contest, but then again, I don't pay a lot of attention to them anyway. Well it turns out I was wonderful, and had successfully referred the required amount of clients for a particular product and in turn, I won a prize! Woohoo!!

Ordinarily for these types of promotions we win a gift card for a restaurant or something, but this time I got to pick what prize I wanted from a list of different items. In all honesty, I would have rather had the gift card, because the choices weren't that great for me. There were a few different toys, but I have no kids to give them to. There was some jewelry, but nothing I particularly liked. And there was steam mop thing! Nice! What the hell kind of prize is that?! So in the end, I chose a prize that I'll give to my hubby. It's a set that consists of a radio and a flashlight with the cranks on them, so you don't need batteries. I figure it will be good for him when he's fishing. And of course it will be good when we need a flashlight, because it never fails that every time we need one the batteries are dead! Oh well, it's kind of sappy, but it's a prize and I won it! ;-)

Long weekends are great but...

What a day from hell it was at work today. They were lined up out the door waiting for us to open this morning, and the line up stayed half way out in the lobby all day until about 4pm or so. Then we had another rush about 20 minutes before we closed at 5pm. I think this was one of the busiest days we've ever had, so my numbers at the end of the day said. So what does this all say to me? Yes, it's nice to have a long weekend, but shit, we paid dearly for it between Friday and today. I'm beat, and I need a vacation! 25 days to go, but who's counting?

A cranky miserable day!

What a freakin' day from hell it was at work today! It's pension day here in Canada today, and in the banking world that means busy, busy, BUSY!! Now it's bad enough that it's a busy day to start, some of our clients come in first thing in the morning to make sure their pension was deposited into their accounts, and they weren't forgotten! So they may pay a bill they've been waiting to pay until payday, or get some money out to go get some groceries, or whatever, but we have many of them, and today was no exception that they had to come back to the bank a second time after the mailman came and brought them a new bill, or perhaps now they decide they want to purchase a money order, when they could have purchased it on their earlier visit! Now don't get me wrong here... I know they're seniors, and I do have the utmost respect for my elders, but if they're going to come to the bank on the busiest day, not once but twice, then don't come to my wicket and bitch to me about how busy it is, and how long they've had to wait in line!!

And today was like a full moon day too. I think I had every miserable customer that came through the doors. I was ripped a new asshole so many times that my next bowel movement won't know where to come out! I'm sorry you had to wait in line; I'm sorry you have a hold on your account because your credibility is bad; I'm sorry that I can't cash your cheque that is made out to someone else that I don't know and isn't joint on your account with you; I'm sorry that you want to take out an insanely large amount of money that you didn't order ahead of time, and yes, although we are a bank and may have the funds under the roof, we don't and can't bring out insanely large amounts of money like that to lesser secured areas unless it's pre-ordered -- we have been known to be robbed in banks from time to time! But these things are not my fault. I just work here, and have to abide by the rules and put up with the long line ups of people glaring at me too! And I have limits on the amount of cheque I can cash on my account as well, just like you. I'm no exception to the rule of having to pre-order any overly large amount of cash I may require, and I can't cash a cheque that's made out to my neighbour's father either! So please, you're singing to the choir when you bitch at me and tell me we're stupid, and you're going to close your account. Here, let me close it for you and just have you sign here! Grrrr...

I need a drink and I really need to win the lottery!

TGIF and I mean it!

Today just seemed to drag on and on and on at work. I didn't think we'd ever hit 5 o-clock to close those damn doors! We were really busy and it was so sad when people kept coming in and saying how gorgeous it was outside and too bad we were stuck in there. Got that right people, so why don't you rub it in a little more! Well we finally managed to break free from what seemed like jail and head out into the glorious sunny day to start our weekend. A friend of mine has invited my husband and myself over for a BBQ tomorrow... the first BBQ gathering of the year! That's always the best one too! We're looking forward to feasting on some tasty steaks, baked taters and some salad. And of course enjoying a few cold ones outside in the sunshine! Hooray for Spring!
