Today I'm a celebrity!

Cool beans! When I went to the PayPerPost site to see if there were any blogging opps, especially those nice high paying ones for 1K Tuesday. When I was there, I noticed that my blog is the featured blog of the day! It's like I'm a celebrity or something, with my name in lights! Or like flavor of the day, employee of the month. Okay, we don't want to go that far, now do we?! Well, anyway, I'm going to enjoy my five minutes of fame here today. Thanks PPP! Anyone want an autograph? :-D

What university did you graduate from?

Well you all know that a lot of my blogging here is done for payment through a few different companies that pay you to blog by giving an opinion for a particular company or web site. PayPerPost is one of of those companies, as you can tell from the links in my sidebar. They are probably the biggest of all of them, and pay out the most cash. Woo-hoo! Cash!

Did you know though, that PPP has now released a new area to their site? It's called the PayPerPost University, and you can go there both as a blogger, or an advertiser to take a few lessons on how to use their site. These lessons are there for you to watch as videos. And by the way, for all you advertisers out there, did you know that you request to have a video ad, rather than an all text ad? Yes, that option is available. Those of us bloggers that have the availability to produce a video ad will do so, and I have to say many of them that have been done by some of the creative posties there are quite entertaining!

In addition to the video lessons at PPPU, there is also a great point list for the best practises to take into consideration while working on these postings through PPP. If you haven't checked out this new addition to PayPerPost, then I urge you to check it out. You'll learn some good information. And to Ted and the team at PPP, hats off to you for giving us PPPU!

PayPerPost -- Show me the money!

Well, what a pleasant surprise to go to the blog over at PayPerPost today. They're having a tre-cool promotion on right now that started at noon today and runs for a week. It's called "Lucky 7s", and there's great opportunity to make some nice moo-lah! Like for instance, they're going to pay me $10.77 for this blog post you're reading right now, and truth be told, I'd let you know about this for free anyway, because it's so darned exciting! Their blog says some opportunities will pay as much as $700!! That sure would come in handy for vacation time, not to mention to help cover costs of my re-decorating job that keeps mushrooming on me!

Now if your head is still in the sand about paid to blog companies such as PayPerPost, how it works is that bloggers, like you and me sign up our blogs with these companies. Arggh!

I forgot it was Tuesday, and as I've sat down here to do a bit of blogging, including some paid to blog posts, I've just managed to totally frustrate myself at PayPerPost. There are so many opportunities that I can accept at the moment, but every time I try to accept one, I'm told all the available posts for that opportunity are already taken. Then it hit me... it's Tuesday, and that means every other postie within the PayPerPost community is there snagging up opportunities because it's HDTV Tuesday, and they could possibly win a Sony 50" Grand WEGA LCD HDTV. Of course because I'm in Canada, I don't qualify to win such an elaborate prize -- boohoo -- but I just want to top up my earnings for this month. I'm sitting at $155.00 so far through PayPerPost for the month of May, and I was hoping to be able to bump that up to $200.00 by the 31st. Vacation time is coming soon, albeit not soon enough because I really need a vacation bad, but still soon enough that I want to make sure I can make a nice amount of extra money to enjoy on my trip back home this summer.

Oh well, I guess I'll try some of the other paid to blog sites and see if there is anything shaking there, and check back with PPP later.

All smiles in the paid to blog world today!

I just came from the PayPerPost site to see if there were any new opportunities to blog for, and I noticed a few changes. I guess that's why their site was down for maintenance last night. One of the biggest and most exciting new additions I saw there was the addition of PayPerPost Direct. (Notice my newest widget in my sidebar here)

What PayPerPost Direct is, is the the opportunity for advertisers to directly hire bloggers from the community of PayPerPost posties when they come across one of our blogs and like what they see, how we write, etc. This is actually already being done by other companies on the net, such as ReviewMe and SponsoredReviews. Those companies have quite high mark-ups -- like 35 - 50% and some even higher, which means for the blogger to get paid what they really want to be paid for a particular post, the advertiser can be charged quite a phenomenal amount of money for that one post. Now here's the best part of this new option from PayPerPost; their mark up is only 10%! That enables the blogger to charge what they feel is a reasonable amount of money for a post, without gouging the advertiser with excess mark up to profit the paid to blog company. PayPerPost isn't looking to line their pockets for playing the middle man in these business dealings, but rather charge a nominal fee to cover PayPal and credit card costs.

So what else did I see that was new... oh! They now have coding for us posties to add sign up forms to our blogs as well. There are forms for both bloggers and advertisers. I'll be adding those to my sidebar shortly. And another nice thing I read was that PayPerPost is now giving us finger flying posties a little more time to complete an opportunity. I'm very grateful for this, because there are times when I've committed to do an opportunity that has a minimum of say 300 words. I like to be able to check out the site I am posting about in good detail, so I can fully explain with confidence to my readers. I almost always tend to be a little more wordy that what is required, and that is okay to me. I'd rather type an additional 50 words or more and have my readers get a good understanding of what I'm talking about, than for them to be confused by a too short posting. Now I was always of the understanding that we as posties only had 1/2 hour to complete our post once we clicked on that accept opportunity button, and then I thought I had read somewhere that the time line was bumped up to 1 hour. An hour is not bad for a smaller post, but for the longer posts, I find it's a little on the wire for me. Then, to add a little more stress to my flying fingers, it never seems to fail that the phone will ring when I start to take on an opportunity. And if the caller on the other end of the line is one particular friend of mine, breaking off a call with her is pretty much impossible. She loves to talk and just carries on as if I said nothing at all!

So now that I've really babbled on here, to conclude it was a pleasant surprise to log into PayPerPost today! :-)

Paid to blog and prizes too!

So it's no news to any of you regular readers here that I some of my posts are blog for money posts. It definitely helps to pay the bills -- there is no doubt there. And any of you that have been following my blog, or know anything about blogging for money know thatPayPerPost is probably the biggest such company on the Internet that offers these opportunities. They have quite a diverse, and constantly growing list of advertisers that buy blogger created advertising. Their pay scale per posting can be quite high if your blog has the power of a good page rank, Alexa and Technorati scores. Plus you need PayPerPosts own tack ratings to be high. All of this puts you in a higher league of paid blogging, which is something I hope to build up to.

At any rate, PayPerPost is also a fun company to blog for, because they quite often have different contests and giveaways for their bloggers (more lovingly called "Posties"). Currently, for this month they have a promo running every Tuesday, which they are calling "HDTV Tuesdays". They've managed to get some really cool prizes donated from Bid4Prizes and they're giving them away to posties every Tuesday this month. This is great for the posties in the USA, but as you know, I'm in Canada, so while I can still make some money blogging, I can't win any of those prizes. That sucks, but whatcha gonna do?

So tomorrow, being Tuesday, my fellow posties in the States will have the chance to snag themselves either a Slingbox, a Nintendo Wii, a Yamaha Surround Sound System or a Logitech universal remote. Lucky posties! I know my nephew sure would have loved for me to win a Wii, because I would have given it to him! Maybe I should consider moving south.

I heart PPP!

Now if you live under a rock as I did for a long time, and you don't know what paid blogging is, there are companies such as PayPerPost (which is pretty much the largest and most popular) that find companies that will pay to advertise on blogs. Blogging is a great way to spread the word when you have a new company or new products, etc. that you want to promote. Millions of people read other peoples blogs every day, and word of mouth spreads quickly throughout the blogging world, so it's good exposure for that advertising budget.

My love for PayPerPost (PPP) is growing more and more. And now that I have a bit of a page rank, my love is growing stronger, because I'm finding more opportunities to write, which in the end means more dollars in my PayPal account. There is nothing sweeter than getting a daily email saying I've got new funds in my account! I love that! Even if it's just a five spot here, or a ten spot there. All those payments add up over the course of a month. I started with PayPerPost on January 7th of this year, and so far I've done 71 posts, for a total of $477.42 paid to me. I know it's not a lot, but then again, I haven't done my three a day posts that I'm entitled to do. If you were to do just three posts a day at even the lowest I've ever been paid for a posting of $5.00, that gives you $15.00 a day. But now multiply that $15.00 by 30, and you're bringing in an extra $450.00 a month. I'm just a small time paid blogger though, because there are many people there with multiple blogs that are making well over $100.00 a day. For instance the top blogger for today so far has made $146.00. Not bad money to bring in for a stay at home mom, huh? Multiply that by 30 and that stay at home mom could well be bringing in more a month than her working husband!

Pretending it's still yesterday!

Since I was so busy taking that IQ test during that Test the Nation show last night, and then had to watch The Amazing Race, which I had to tape since it was on at the same time, I didn't get my weekly earnings report posted last night. I know, excuses, excuses! So let's just pretend that today is still Sunday, and here's my update!

Last weeks post, I had a total of $400.12. This past week, I managed to bump that up another $184.14, for a grand total of $584.26. Nice! Very nice! However, it really could have been better. I know I shouldn't be balking at what I made, since it was money I hadn't made when the week started, but things are really slowing down for me at PayPerPost, and it's becoming quite disheartening. I only managed to bring in about $25.00 with them last week, and that's very low, since I've done close to that or more in one day before. I love doing the posts for them, but with so many opportunities coming up now that my blog doesn't qualify for due to page rank, there are less and less chances for me to make much money there anymore. I really need to get people to link to this blog, and help boost my page rank. I've been doing all I can to hopefully get some linking from others, such as joining different blog communities, and leaving comments on other people's blogs, but my rank is still sitting at that big fat zero. Things also seemed to slow down at Blogitive for me too. I only managed to do one post with them last week, so hopefully there will be more chances this coming week. Nothing new at either Blogsvertise or Loudlaunch last week, but I do have a post with Loudlaunch coming up after this. My Helium seemed to slow down quite a bit this past week too, but I'm happy to say I requested another payout tonight for month end! :-) Sales at my Funky Olive Shop did good again last week, being the top money maker for the week again, Sales of still more St. Patrick's Day items helped, but things have slowed back down there as well. I've already made about $75.00 more there this month so far than last month. Growth is good!

So all in all, things are looking good for the month, but seeming to slow down. I can't really complain since this month started with a bang, and that was real nice! Here's to further earnings growth for you and for me! :-)

It's Sunday... how much have you made?

First of all, allow me to apologize for not posting an update last Sunday. I completely forgot about it until later in the week. However, I did do a monthly recap, so I can tell you that I finished off the month by earning a total of $496.75, which is $86.90 more than what I made in the month of January. That's not bad, considering there were three less days in the month, and there were those issues with the Blogitive site for a couple of weeks or more.

Now, onto what I've made so far this month. I have to say the past 11 days have been pretty darn good! I'm currently sitting at $400.12 so far! That's sweet! My daily average is currently at $36.38! I can't wait until I can get that up to $50 a day, but I'll take what I can get at this point!

Now I have to confess one thing here about this months earnings... I did a post from PayPerPost that paid $100.00, so that definitely helped boost my total. And my shop, The Funky Olive sold quite a few St. Patrick's Day products, which was a nice boost as well. In fact, my sales there have already made tier this month, so I'm in for an additional 7% of all my sales for the rest of the month. I would love to be able to reach the next tier for an additional 15%, but I think the major bulk of the sales for the month is over, since St. Paddy's day is next Saturday, so any more sales from those products are pretty much unlikely until next year. I have to get going on Easter designs. Sales for that holiday will be starting real soon, if they haven't already. Helium is clipping along, and I'll be requesting my payment next weekend. I've also started doing some blogging for LoudLaunch this month as well, which is great to add a little more opportunity. And I'm very pleased that Blogitive is back up and running again. I sure did miss them while they were out of commission.

Drum Roll Please...

It's Sunday, and that means it's time for another weekly earnings update! Woohoo! I love Sundays!

So, this week wasn't quite as profitable as last week, but it wasn't hard to take either. I try to remember that it's money I didn't have a week ago, and it all adds up in the end. There still seems to be issues with Blogitive, although I think it may actually be fixed now. I logged in to my account earlier today and there was a posting there, but when I clicked on it to accept it, something happened and it seemed to poof away on me! I think though that perhaps I hesitated and someone else beat me to the punch, as it was only showing one available post left. Gotta be quicker on the trigger I guess! I got a little lax with PayPerPost this past week and only ended up doing seven opps for the whole week. I think I started getting a little discouraged with seeing all these great opps there, but not being able to act on so many of them with my zero page rank. I know I shouldn't do that, and I don't even know if that was the reason behind it since I haven't really been feeling up to snuff lately. I feel like I'm fighting off a cold, and have just felt a little drained after work lately. I'm happy to say I got another entry offer from Blogsvertise this past week, so I did that one. I hope to get more of them on a more regular basis, since I've only had one per month since I signed up with them. Again, I think my zero page rank has something to do with that as well. My Helium account has been steadily growing this past week. I'm still not at that minimum payout again yet. I'm now just a titch over $3.00 away, so it's safe to say that I will be able to request payment next month. Cool! My Funky Olive Shop has seen steady sales this past week as well, and I have reached tier for this month, which means I now earn an additional 7% on each sale until the end of the month. That's always nice, because it helps the profits grow more rapidly, and I love it when that happens!

Now for the dollar update... To date, for this month so far, I'm sitting at $445.12, which means earnings from this past week rang in at $143.93. Like I said, not as much as last week, but not hard to take either, and I'll take it with a smile on my face!

I'm really hoping for a snow day tomorrow, since we're in the midst of another nasty blizzard. I figure if I end up with the day off, I'm hoping to get my second shop up and operational, which in turn I hope will generate more earnings. In the meantime, here's to more earnings this coming week! :-)

Pssst...

Everything is a buzz at the PayPerPost site lately! Seems there's some big news in the works! What could it be? The gang there is real tight lipped about it, and they're not giving any hints other than to just tell us big news is coming soon. All of us posties, as we're known as that post their opportunities on our blogs are going crazy trying to figure out what this "big news" could be. So let's think about it, and let me know if you could think of anything else that this might be.

Hmm, well, since Google seems to be buying up everything on the net lately, could it possibly be a merging with Google? But what would PayPerPost be called then, if that were the case? PayPerPoogle? Eeep! I don't like the sound of that!

Wait a minute. I just figured it out! I'll bet the gang there all invested some money in Powerball tickets, and they won, and they've decided to share all their bazillions they won with all of us posties! Oh wow! That has to be it, don't you think? I mean what bigger news could there possibly be than that? Oh my God! This is going to be awesome! It's just the kinda break I was looking for! My bills will be all paid, and I'll be able to go away on a nice trip! I just can't wait until they tell us how much we'll all be getting! Maybe they won't tell us though. Maybe they'll just credit our PayPal accounts with that nice big fat deposit. Nah, they'll tell us. I know they will. Oh, I'm going to have to act so surprised when they tell us, because I wouldn't want to burst their bubble by figuring out what the big exciting news is.

I have to go tell my husband about this now. He's going to be so shocked! Oh, and remember, keep this information under your hat. We can't let it leak out until PayPerPost makes the official announcement about their "big news"! (wink, wink)

It's Sunday night!

Live from The Funky Olive Blogspot... it's Sunday night!! And you all know what that means. Yessiree, Bob, it's time for the weekly update on earnings so far for the month.

This past week I'm pleased to say was a little more profitable than the past few weeks. Although blogging opportunities were down to like zero with Blogitive (apparently they are having some technical problems at the moment, but are working on updates and fixing the glitches), PayPerPost has bumped up our daily limit from two posts per day to three. I'm still having a little trouble qualifying for opportunities, based on my blog ranking, but it's nice to know the limits are raised. I did manage to cash in on the three per day a couple days, and I had a few that paid nicely this week too -- like two at $10.00 each and even one that paid $15.00, which was a bonus. Helium earnings continued to grow, and I'm getting closer to another minimum payout. Just over $6.00 will get me there. Hopefully that will happen within the next week and a half, based on the growth pattern that has been happening lately. Sales at my Funky Olive Shop this past week were higher than they've been since the holidays, so that has been really nice.

So my earnings update for the week are this. For the month to date I'm sitting at $301.19. This puts me up a total of $175.40 from last week, which is not hard to take at all. I'd be a happy camper if I could make that or more on a regular basis, but I'll take whatever comes my way, and do so with a smile. I'm not out to get rich quick, which there really is no sure fire way of doing that without first being rich and having the capital to cash in on a sure thing, in my opinion anyway. I'm not afraid of rolling up my sleeves and working for any extra dollars I can make. It all helps to pay the bills, and pay them a little quicker than if I did nothing. So it's all good in the end.

With that said, here's to this week being another profitable one! :-)

Valentines Day has come and gone for another year. Did you spend your Valentines Day with your sweetheart? Or are you still looking for that someone special to spend quality time with? Manly Man?

So we're at work today, and it's real busy, because we've had this big snow storm two days ago, and people are finally venturing out today. All of a sudden I start hearing music that's faintly familiar. I look at my friend/co-worker and say, "Nutcracker"? She grins and nods. Okay, so whose cell phone is playing the Nutcracker? I look over at the ATM machines and this big kinda burly looking man puts his phone to his ear and says, "Hello"? Hmm, the music stopped. I thought I was going to split a gut laughing at the sheer craziness of this manly man having such music for his ring tone! One has to wonder what kind of wallpaper he has on that phone. I wonder if it's a ballerina to match the ring tone?

Now a manly man, I would think, would much more prefer a sexy woman for his cell phone wallpaper. Maybe a hot picture of Ana Beatriz Barros, Heidi Klum or Molly Sims. And what man wouldn't love a picture of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model for wallpaper? I can't think of too many that wouldn't love to drool over one of those girls in their skimpy swimsuits! Especially with the 43rd annual swimsuit edition just being released this week. Yep, that's much more like it for a manly man! And for a ring tone, you might want to try something like "Legs" by ZZ Top, or something else a little more, you know, less Nutcrackerish!

Erica Kane? She's still kicking?

I remember while growing up my mother had three shows that she wouldn't miss. Hockey Night in Canada, (yes, she was a huge hockey fan) As The World Turns, and All My Children. I vividly remember her cussing out Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci. Oh how she hated that bitch Erica! And being just a kid, I could never understand how she could hate this Erica lady so much. I mean she didn't even know her, and I always thought she was just a pretty lady!

Yeah, so I was talking about the changes that PayPerPost has made, and how segmentation has been introduced, giving some bloggers more opportunities to take than others. Unfortunately for me, I'm still on the low end of the totem pole. I really have to get my page rank boosted up from the big fat zero that I have now!

Anyway, since they've made these new changes I've noticed a lot of other changes around the opportunity boards. For one, there seems to be more opportunities available to us bloggers now. I don't know if these changes really have anything to do with that or not, mind you, but there do seem to be more now. Maybe the advertisers are just realizing that PayPerPost is a great way to get the buzz out about their site, or their products. Whatever the reason is, it's nice to be able to have more choices to pick from. Before these changes, there seemed to be a lot of opportunities for a handful of a few companies, so the variety is nice.

Another thing I've noticed is they are now paying some really big money for some of these opportunities, which is really cool! There are still quite a few paying $5.00 per opp, but there have been a few paying $75., $125., and there was even one paying $1000.!! Now mind you, your blog has to be rich with page rank in order to qualify for taking such an opportunity, but still! Imagine if you could tell people, I get paid to blog, and when they ask you how much, you could say, "All different amounts... like I was paid $1000.00 for this one piece." Oh, I would love to be able to say something like that! However, I've got a long way to go building up my page rank before I can be so fortunate, but we should always have goals, shouldn't we?
